senario of television production house in pakistan
Now days there are many television production houses in Pakistan which are producing different dramas, telefilms, talk shows, soaps for entertaining the masses. In the mid of 1990s there were only PTV and STN TV channels and standard of programmes were very good and mostly PTV used to produce its own products (programmes).
Gradually PTV started adopting programmes from private productions such as Eveready, ever new, evergreen productions etc. with the passage of time private productions became very important because of emergence of privates channel now there are many TV channel and less production houses.
Quality of programmes has decreased because of the lack of specialist in these fields for instance director, producers, cameramen, writers etc and there is no institute for teaching in this field so that these specialists can produce quality programmes. Mostly television channels are dependant on these production houses therefore production houses are responsible for quality of programmes either these are good or not.
These production houses are playing the significant role among the relationships of Pakistan and India. Recently a prestigious Production house released two historical films Mghal-eAzam and Taj Mahel. It happened first time in the history of Pakistan India which is the great achievement of Eveready. By this the people of these countries are coming closer .many Indian artists and media persons visited Pakistan for attending the premiere ceremony of these legend films.
Apart from this there are many shortcomings as well which leave some questions behind. This is the general perception of the middle and lower class of Pakistan. They have claimed that our media promote high class people and degrading the poor people that our problems should be mentioned and the media is not doing like that. they also claimed that media is creating inferiority among less income people because the all stories which are being telecasting on media through different programmes these are all higher class oriented which are making us feel complex.
One more question that should be raised that media is not playing the role to promote the norms and values of our culture. Either these programs are usually copied from Indians dramas or they promote western culture. Instead they should show the solution of our social problems they are promoting materialism .
